jarrod gollihare
Jarrod Gollihare has been in the arts and entertainment industry for most of his adult life, both behind the scenes and in the spotlight. Though born in California, he’s lived in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area since the age of 10. He describes himself as “mostly Okie.”
Besides working for various Tulsa publications since the early ‘90s as a music columnist, editor, photographer and graphic designer, Jarrod’s experience in the wonderful world of arts includes stints in various rock and pop bands (as a drummer/singer/songwriter) including the power-pop quartet Admiral Twin, who were signed to Universal Records in 1999. He also records and releases albums under the name Bellwether Squares (a pop collaboration with his wife Jaime Lewis Gollihare), and The House of Jed (his solo project). Since 2017, he has also worked as an audio archivist and exhibit designer for the Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture (OKPOP).
In 1997, Gollihare penned a biography of Tulsa-based international pop stars Hanson, (Hanson: The Official Book) which quickly climbed to #9 on the New York Times non-fiction bestseller list despite a distinct lack of any scenes involving explosions or nudity.
Another of Jarrod’s creative interests is painting, which he mostly does for his own amusement...and with his fingers. Completely untrained, he hasn’t the slightest clue what he’s doing. Much to his surprise, however, people actually shell out hard earned cash for his odd acrylic/tempera paintings of people and animals behaving strangely.
He has no idea why they would do such a thing.
